Steelhead season is open and they are running small this year on average, most people will be pitching the bobber and jig combo with shrimp, hint they bite other things too. Red and black maribou jigs and combinations of these 2 colors are the top choice. The fish have moved to a little deeper water as the water temp's start to drop in the Columbia and to the middle of the holes in the Methow and Okanogan river. We caught some nice fish this week which was an improvement from the skinny fish in the past so may be thing's are looking up. Been playing with spin-n-glows with egg's and jet divers and it is producing. Don't forget there is a new rule that it is mandatory to keep all hatchery fish up to your limit of 4. Well the new tip for the new comers to this page and a reminder to the old salt's is to take a small piece of candle wax and run it over the first 30 or 40 yard's of the line to keep it riding high on the water which makes it easier to mend the line when bobber fishing, if you don't mend the line up stream and get the big bow between the tip of your rod and the bobber out ,when a fish bites and you jerk all you get is the slack line no fish. Rufus Woods is starting to kick out a few fish mostly in the 4 to 5 lb. class with 1 at 11lbs that I know of. It is not a slaughter as 2 years ago and a lot of people were disappointed with last year's action as they will be this year, you will have to put your time in. Prices this year will remain the same @ $350 for 2, $450 for 3 and $550 for 4 and kid's under 12 are $50 with 2 adults. |
