Getting lot's of phone call's about what is going to happen this year so here's the word on the street. The indians will not be netting sockeye this year because of the low return's which means we probably won't have a season either, the King run will be normal but no wild fish retention again and they are 95 percent wild so it's your decision. Save your money and go to the lower columbia where you can keep fish. The Well's dam hatchery let all the fish into the hatchery last year and killed all the fish they didn't need and gave them to the indians and I asume they will do the same this year and at the new Bridgeport hatchery when the fish start to return and wipe out the naturally spawning fish with them also. They are supposed to capture what they need and close the gates so the fish stay in the river for the recreational fisherman. They have literally desroyed this fishery with the indians netting and all the regs. There is only 1 local part time guide left in Brewster and he is the chief of police and runs reel-lentless guide service. Chelan Falls has a beautiful R.V park with really nice boat launch. I have been working with a guide that will be fishing this area this year and can be really good early in the season. I will not be guideing any more as my wife has past and after 20 years that's enough, feel free to contact me any time for fishing reports or quality of the guides now working here. Gas prices are 2.75 a gallon in Brewster and there are no bars, 1 Mexican cafe, 6 police officers. I suggest staying in Pateros.
